Willie Catherine Lewis, affectionately known to many as “Sista,” passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 76 years old.
Willie Catherine was a devoted member of Pine Street Church of Christ, where she studied the Word of Christ diligently and lived her faith daily. She was known for her thoughtfulness, deep empathy, and remarkable ability to listen, observe, and reflect. These qualities were among her greatest strengths and left a lasting impact on all who knew her. She lived her life faithfully and was truly a warrior in Christ.
Born in Hooks, Texas, Willie Catherine lived a life rooted in faith, service, and love for others. She was preceded in death by her significant other, Leroy Alexander; her parents, Reener Lewis and James Burns; her special aunt, Frances Davis; her sister, Ophelia Barlow; her brothers, Idra Womax and her beloved twin brother, Willie B. Lewis, who passed one year and four days prior to her death, with whom she shared an unbreakable and cherished bond.
She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted daughter, Antonia Lewis of Texarkana, Texas; her beloved grandchildren: Ryienn Craft-Lewis of Denton, Texas; Mikeal Johnson, Antonio Franklin-Lewis, and Tre Lewis-Colbert, all of Texarkana, Texas; and her sister, Bertha Burns of Texarkana, Texas.
Willie Catherine was a proud graduate of Dunbar High School and later attended Bishop College in Dallas, Texas, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. After completing her education, she returned to Texarkana, where she worked faithfully and eventually retired from The City of Texarkana. Even in retirement, she continued to serve others, always seeking ways to be of assistance and to uplift those around her. She often spoke of fostering children, as she had a heart for helping others.
She was a patient, quiet, supportive, and loving mother who was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. She cherished caring for others and treasured time spent with her family. Her life was marked by selflessness, compassion, and unwavering faith.

Willie Catherine Lewis leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends, all of whom will forever cherish her legacy of love, faith, and service.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the life of Willie Catherine Lewis and for the example of faith, love, and service she demonstrated throughout her life. We are grateful for her devotion to Your Word and for the legacy she leaves within her family and among all who knew her. We ask that You comfort and strengthen those who mourn, granting them peace that surpasses understanding. May her soul rest in Your eternal care as she awaits the crown promised to the faithful. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
