Gloria Jean Thompson Obituary

Gloria Jean Thompson Obituary

Gloria Jean Thompson was born on Saturday, April 17th, 1948, in Texarkana, Arkansas to Bernice Hubbard and Alonzo Warren Sr. Gloria lived a life grounded in faith, service, and love for others. Gloria dedicated thirty-five years of faithful service to CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System where she worked in Central Supply as a Senior Supply Tech. A devoted Christian, Gloria gave her life to Christ at an early age and was known for her faith in God and being a prayer warrior who consistently lifted others up in prayer. She was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Reco L. Boyd. Gloria found joy in watching the Lifetime channel, Bonanza, the Game Show Network, and eating fish often brought by cousin, Lee Daniel. Above all, she cherished time spent with her beloved grandchildren, often telling each one they were her favorite, while being able to raise her eldest grandchild, Marcus. She was able to be cared for by her three youngest grandchildren…Brenden, Adrienne, and Adrianna, who assisted with rides to dialysis, showering, and preparing meals as her health declined.

Gloria passed away peacefully on Monday, April 13th, 2026, at the age of seventy-seven due to kidney failure. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernice Hubbard, Alonzo Warren Sr., and Charles Hubbard; siblings, Lonnie (Connie) Thompson, Alonzo Warren Jr., Annie Warren, and Bobby Joe Watson; cousin, Bobbie Thompson; former pastor, Eva R. Ellis; and her best friend, Bettie Kendrick.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Eleanor Stiger (Amarillo, TX), LeGrand (Shannon) Thompson (Dallas, TX), Troy (Verlee) Thompson (Cordova, TN), Jerry (Kawanda) Thompson (Texarkana, TX), and Jennifer Thompson (Texarkana, AR); siblings, Wilma Watson (Grandview, MO), Mary Colston (New Boston, TX), Alvin (Sharon) Thompson, Malvin (Anette) Thompson (Blue Springs, MO), Ritsy Warren and Sharon King (both of Texarkana, AR), Katherine Taylor (Mesquite, TX), Michael Cheatum and Earl Cheatum (both of Texarkana), and Iesha Warren (Fresno, CA); thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and special friends, Jackie Young, Janet Legardye, Nita Davis, and Glenna Row.
