Earsie Faye Ervin, age seventy-seven, of DeKalb, Texas, passed away on June 10, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on December 6, 1948, Earsie was a devoted sister, mother, nanny, and friend whose presence brought strength, comfort, and unwavering love to everyone who knew her.
Earsie dedicated her life to her family and to caring for others. She was known for her fiery personality, fierce loyalty, and the deep love she had for those she held dear. Her resilience, strength, and bold spirit left an indelible mark on all who were blessed to know her.
She attended Marvin Pines School until the integration of schools and later attended DeKalb High School, where she graduated. Earsie devoted more than two decades of her life to healthcare, serving as a Certified Nursing Assistant for twenty-two years before continuing her work as a healthcare provider until her retirement.
Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She began her spiritual journey at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in DeKalb and later became a member of St. Joseph Baptist Church in New Boston. She eventually united with Antioch Baptist Church in New Boston, where she faithfully served as a Deaconess until her health no longer allowed her to attend services regularly.
On March 11, 1974, Earsie married James E. Ervin II. Their union was blessed with three children, whom she loved and cherished deeply.
She is survived by her three children:

Tiffany M. Smith (Waylon Traylor) of New Boston, TX
Sedrick L. Ervin (Summer Ervin) of Texarkana, AR
She also leaves behind her siblings:

Great-Grands: Maddix, Eliza, Jaylee, Aspen, Xavier, Kennedi (incoming), Gracelynn, Mendeecee, Ma'Zaylee, Me'Lani, Zain, Ayden, Nova.
Earsie was preceded in death by her grandson, Semaj Williams, and her parents, Joe Lee and L. B. Murphy.
