Trudie Spencer was born September15, 1981 to James Spencer and Laura Spencer in Texarkana, Texas. At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and was a lifelong member of Macedonia Baptist Church serving in various auxiliaries. Trudie’s ambition was to do the will of God and use her life in service to others to reflect God’s love.

Trudie Spencer worked in collaboration with Faith Love and Hope NFL Weekend as a volunteer. NFL players conducted a football camp and the Atlanta Falcon Cheerleaders conducted a cheerleader camp. The NFL weekend, with a celebrity golf tournament and banquet, was a way to raise funds for summer programs, constructive activities, and food services for the children of the neighborhood. She was proud to be part of efforts that invested in the lives of young people.

She loved music and played the drums in school. Trudie worked with the School of Success (SOS) choir. Under the program, students performed locally and throughout the area, bringing joy and inspiration to audiences wherever they traveled. She loved making beats on the keyboard and made a CD of her beats. Trudie had a chance to meet the president of Rockboy Records through a local recording artist.

Trudie had a passion for sports. She enjoyed playing basketball and softball. She coached the Red Team, a boys basketball team, and they were undefeated and were number one in their division.

She participated in the Explorer Program with the Texarkana Texas Police Department.

Trudie was a devoted advocate who used her personal experiences to encourage others facing health challenges. She was an inspirational speaker at the CHRISTUS St. Michael Rehab Reunion. Her photo, along with others, is displayed on the wall to encourage patients toward greater functionality and mobility. She participated in the Stroke and Amputee Support Group, speaking words of hope and encouragement.

She was a speaker at the Kids Day Diabetic Camp held at Camp Preston Hunt, where she was once a camper. She encouraged other diabetic children by sharing her experiences to lift them up.

Trudie enjoyed being a part of the “Street Team” and “Crack the Code Crew” for KTOY during their live remote radio events.

Education was important to her. She was a substitute teacher for LEISD. Trudie was loved by the staff and students and was encouraged to continue on the path toward teacher certification until her health declined. She did not let her illness deter her and found joy and purpose in her love for children by tutoring her nieces, nephews, and other students at a local school.

 At Theron Jones Early Literacy Center, she was part of the “Granny Pack”. Although she was not a “granny”, she enjoyed tutoring students

One year she assisted in adopting Dunbar School during Teacher Appreciation Week. Every staff member received a gift, meal, or token of appreciation in recognition of their dedicated service.

She volunteered with Enhabit Hospice – Texarkana making visits to patients in their homes and nursing homes. She received a certificate in honor of her services on April 29, 2026.

Trudie served on the Rosehill Neighborhood Association. Their purpose is to help improve the quality of life for the neighborhood. The Association supports a community garden, clean-up project, and backpack with school supplies project. 

She volunteered for Polcare, “Package of Love” Care and assisted with fundraisers to help with numerous projects such as “Teacher Appreciation Week where Polcare adopted several schools to serve food snacks & drinks to the teachers; the Summer Reading Program for second – fifth grade students at Texarkana College; distribution of backpacks with school supplies; and the Turkey Giveaway with fixings for Thanksgiving dinner at Texarkana College.

Though her passing leaves a tremendous void, her legacy will continue through the countless lives she touched, the people she encouraged, and the example she set. Trudie Spencer will be remembered not only for what she accomplished but for the love, faith, kindness, and hope she shared with others. Her life was a testament to perseverance, service, and grace. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

On Monday, June 15, 2026, God promoted Trudie from “Service” to “Reward”. She was preceded in death by her father, James Spencer. She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Laura Spencer of Texarkana, Texas; brother, Cleotis (Bobbie) Spencer of Texarkana, Texas; sister, Clara Brown of Texarkana, Texas; uncles, Robert Spencer Sr. and Richard Hooker both of Texarkana, Texas and Leon Briley of Houston, Texas; aunts, Luretta Darden of Houston, Texas, Yolanda Rene Sullivan of Lakewood, Washington and Barbara Crittenden of Dallas, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many dear friends.
