Avril Elizabeth Nelson, affectionately known as "Grunt." was born on May 5, 1931, to Elijah Sanders and Mary Fort.

She grew up in Arkadelphia and New Boston, Texas, and later made her home in Texarkana, TX.

Avril dedicated her working years to serving  others as a Custodian for TISD Administration and as a Housekeeper for Larry and Tish Peebles.

Her greatest joys were found in the simple things: sewing, cooking, planting flowers and plants, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son Kenneth Ray Sanders of Dallas, Tx her brother Calvin Sanders of Shreveport, LA her sister Lois Barber of New Boston, TX  her grandchildren Kenneth Vincent Sanders of Phoenix, AZ Stanley Washington and Jahkeimi Westmoreland of Texarkana, Tx Keith Fields of Dallas, TX Damion Sanders of Dallas, TX  Marilyn and Premium Clark of Texarkana, Tx her great grandchildren Kenyetta Sanders of Texarkana, TX Jon Treka Westmoreland and Lorenzo Westmoreland of Texarkana, TX Kaisa Fields of Dallas, TX Sequoia, Kelly, and Doodie Clark of Texarkana, TX her great great grandchildren Ry'Leign Kallye, and Ace Cardwell D'Aryeh and Cayiha Williams Khiyler Griffin all of Texarkana, TX

She was preceded in death by her father Elijah Sanders her mother Mary Fort her daughter Marilyn Densie Johnson

A loving mother,grandmother sister, aunt, and friend whose strength, wisdom, and love created a legacy that will live on for generations.
