Curtis Martin was born on February 26, 1947, to Otho and Altha Dockery Martin in Lewisville, Arkansas.

At early age, Curtis joined Galilee Baptist Church in Lewisville, Arkansas, under Rev. Nelson Young. As a young adult, after moving to California with his family in 1964, he joined Sweet Home Baptist Church in Los Angeles, California, serving as a deacon alongside his father. After many years he moved his membership to Crenshaw Christian Center, attending until moving back to Arkansas.

While living in Los Angeles, he married Christine Nelson on April 21, 1977. To this union Curshon J. Martin was born on March 29, 1983.

Curtis was an avid tennis player and cyclist. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Christine over many years. Curtis had a sense of style, and in fact his niece and her friends referred to him as the $6 million man. Curtis and Christine enjoyed entertaining guests at their frequent barbecues and were especially well known for their annual New Year's Day extravaganzas where Chef Christine displayed an array of delicious dishes, in other words, she put her foot in it.

Curtis spent the early years of his career at Crown Zellerbach, where he became one of their youngest supervisors, before being recruited to join Kimberly Clark. After disabling brain surgeries, and being nursed back to health by Christine, Curtis became an independent entrepreneur successfully operating his own business over the next twenty years until retirement. In retirement, Curtis 

and Christine returned to Arkansas, making their home in Texarkana. In recent years, Curtis enjoyed his weekly Friday lunches with friends at the Golden Corral, and his regular coffee and doughnut visits with his sister Pauline.

Curtis cherished and deeply cared for his parents. During their lifetime, he could be found at their home on any day that ended in "Y". He enjoyed spending time with his children, his extended family, including his brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews. Being the 

youngest of seven boys, he enjoyed lots of laughter and joking with his brothers, typically about his seven sisters.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents Otho Martin and Altha Dockery Martin; his brothers, Clyde, Claude, Esther Wright, John Willie, Otis Ellis, and Otha Jr.; and sisters, Dorothy Mae Hamilton, Willie Bell Cooper, Ruby Lee Richard, and Elizabeth Butler.

Those left to treasure his memory include his loving wife, Christine Martin; his children, Tammy, CurShawn Renae, Maurice and Curshon J. Martin; granddaughters, Milan and Morgan Comeaux; his sisters, Mary Nell Chambers, Pauline Pickett, and Myrtle 

Jean Martin; and other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
