Mae Dean Gatewood Obituary

Mae Dean (Wilson) Gatewood was born on November 22, 1934 to the late Willie B. Wilson and the late


Eloise (Johnson) Wilson, and was the sixth sibling of nine children. She was a 1953 graduate of Dunbar


High School. She united with the Friendship Baptist Church as a child, where she had remained a life


long member.




She united in Holy Matrimony on July 8th, 1953 to Odis L. Gatewood, Sr. They were proud parents of


Five boys and two girls.




Mae Dean worked for Fifiteen years at The Lone Star Army Ammunition plant. She retired from the


Teleservice Corportation. She received so much joy tending to her many house and outside plants. She


had a passion for a clean house and traveling with friends and family on fun outings to the casino. She


adored raising her children, including the children of the neighborhood. She loved to interact with her


16_grandchildren, _20_great grandchildren, and her _2_ great great grands.




Mae Dean was preceded in death by her husband Odis L. Gatewood Sr, four brothers and four sisters,


Willie B. Wilson Jr., Leodis Wilson, Lawrence Wilson, James Wilson, Delois (Wilson) Robinson, Rosa Lee


(Wilson) Patterson, Eula Wilson, and Melba Jean (Wilson) Heath, and her sons Gregory Gatewood and


Robbie Gatewood.




She leaves to cherish her memories, sons Odis L. Gatewood Jr. (Brenda) of El Dorado, AR Tony Eugene


Gatewood and Cedric Credit, both of Texarkana, TX daughters Shirley Lynn Gatewood-Williams (Charley)


of El Dorado, AR and Tishua L. Gatewood of Texarkana, TX a bonus daughter Rose Madison also of


Texarkana and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
