Obituary of Jessie Mae Henderson
Jessie Mae Henderson affectionately known as “Josie Mae” was born December 22, 1932, in Doddridge, Arkansas to Charlie and Alola Stevens. She transitioned this world June 20, 2024, to be with the lord.
Josie Mae was united in marriage to Willie B. Henderson “Chicken Man” and through their love raised a daughter, Carolyn Billie “Monk.” In search of a better life, the family relocated to Flint, MI, where they lived across the street from Uncle
John L. and Aunt Bertha Nelson. Addison Street was a place of love and family. As Josie was leaving this world, she was still reminiscing about all the fun times with family and friends.
Josie Mae was educated through the Kiblah School System and retired from Meals on Wheels in 2019. The job she never retired from was working for the Lord. She attended Christ Fellowship in Flint, MI and New Hope Missionary Baptist
Church in Doddridge, AR, where she served on several boards and sang in the choir. Her church family meant the world to her, and she truly loved Pastors David and Yvonne Boone.
Josie Mae leaves to cherish her memory: brother, Collin T. (Clardine) Stevens of Flint, MI; grandchildren, Starlin (Karloa) Stevens Sr., of Plainfield, IN; Rickael (Deon) Simpson of Pontiac, Mi; Collin (Lindsay) Simpson of Harrison Twp, MI;
