Obituary of Minister Joyce Matlock-Porter

Minister Joyce Ann Matlock-Porter, 66, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away Friday, November 25, 2011 at her home. Min. Porter was affiliated with the New Life Church of God in Christ. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marjorie Matlock and her brothers, Jimmie and Richard Matlock. She was employed at Lone Star Ammo and was a member of the Black History Association and National Poet Society She leaves a legacy of love and memories to her husband, George Porter, of Texarkana, Texas; six sons: Russell Hill of Texarkana, Texas, Curtis (Laura) Wilson of Texarkana, Texas, David (Carolyn) Wilson of Texarkana, Texas, Jeffery (Labretha) Hill of Texarkana, Texas, Dennis (Terri) Hill of Gilmore, Texas, and Kevin Wilson of Texarkana, Texas; four daughters: Caroline (Douglas) Brown of Longview, Texas, Janette Hill-Potter of Norfolk, Virginia, Kimberly (Michael) Hinton of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Malissa (Michael) Curry of Texarkana, Arkansas; her father, Joe Hill, Sr. of Kansas City, Missouri; five sisters: Cheryl Matlock of Topeka, Kansas, Linda Matlock of Texarkana, Texas, Jean Matlock of Huntsville, Alabama, Melva Matlock of Wichita, Kansas, and Cathy Dianne Matlock of Dallas, Texas; four brothers: William Matlock of Kansas City, Missouri, Joe Hill, Jr. of Kansas City, Missouri, Timothy Hill of Kansas City, Missouri, Steve (Janet) Matlock of Texarkana, Texas, Howard Matlock of St. Louis, Missouri, and Harold Matlock of Riverside, California; a special granddaughter/daughter, Erion (Robert) Mace of Clarksville, Tennessee; twenty-five grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
