Auntie, my heart was so heavy the morning you went to join the other Smith-Thurston family members that had gone before you. I cried but I knew you was in a better place. A place of peace. A place where there is no more sorrow, pain or thirst. I now begin my journey of your warm memories. When I think of you, precious warm memories comes to me. Your gentle hands embracing mine, sweet words to move and lift me, so full of wisdom, understanding, and happiness to share. You were always strong caring, and giving of yourself. To My Beloved Ethel Lee Mark Thurston, words will never be able to express the hurt and loss I feel right now. Although I know you are in a better place and you was ready to go be with The Lord , my heart is still heavy. I sit and I remember the conversations we use to have and I laugh to myself because you was truly a woman who said what you meant, and meant what you said. You was always more than an Aunt to us, you were Mother, friend, disciplinary, and them Aunt. Always telling us what was right or as you put it "dust said The Lord " whether we wanted to listen or not. You had a genuine love for God always putting him first in all that you did. You loved your family and assisted wherever you could. Your love and loyalty will be forever remembered. I love you, I miss you. Rest forever in peace and love. Until we meet again.
