It's been a year since my moms passing. It seems like just yesterday but feels like shes been gone forever. I really miss her and wish I could have done more to make her days more comfortable. Since her passing many of us have lost friends and family members. If nothing else I realise that no one knows how much time we have left with our loved ones. So we should treasure these moments. Let us not wait until God sends for ones soul to come see them or pay our last respects. Lets visit, spend time, laugh, cry, sing, dance,eat do anything we want to do now. Thank you God for blessing us with this wonderful lady. Thank you to all my friends and family from Rachida and I for all your prayers. Insha Allah I will see you again Mom. Yes you are gone but never will you be forgotten!

May you RIP Aunt Hazel M. Brown. She was definitely an unsung Hero, a trail blazer who believed in hard work. Her words were " nobody gives you nothing, you have to work for it." Her accomplishments: Graduate of Macedonia H.S. Texarkana, Texas, recipient of a scholarship to Wiley College and Graduate of Wiley College, Marshall, Tx., a teacher in Texarkana, Tx. Eylau #2 and New Boston, Tx. Pleasant Hill. Resided in Los Angeles, Ca. A teacher at Vaughn St. Elementary, Los Angeles Unified School District. Moved back to Texarkana, Tx. in 1980 to rebuild the community in which she grew up. Built on Will Smith Sub-Division family land in which she renamed, "The Smith Compound", obtained signatures to save our heritage, Macedonia H.S. now called Macedonia School of Success, named the road in which her home is located, Carrie Smith Lane who is my grandmother, instrumental in naming of Will Smith Rd. that leads to the main highway 59. Gone but not forgotten.

I wish I could have lived near you in Texarkana so I could have gotten so much closer to you. However, I remember in 2009 when I was down there for the last Smith Reunion, I really enjoyed eating that catfish at the table with you. We tore that catfish up.(LOL)I love you. Rest in Peace.

My Mom wow, what a Lady. As time went on we would go visit Hazel at the nursing home we would ask her, How do you fell today mom? She would reply "With My hands" So I would Know everything was ok. I am going to miss her sharp and sometimes candid wit. The people that knew her knew she was peacemaker a bridge builder whose family came first. That being said I look forward to the day when she will once again feel me "With Her Hands"
