Obituary of Semaj Williams

Semaj Lamar Williams, 17, of New Boston, Texas, departed this life, Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013. Semaj was a native of New Boston, Texas. He united with St. Joseph Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Johnny L. Hooks; later he joined Antioch Baptist Church under the current pastor, Rev. Monte Young, where he served faithfully as an usher and as an active Sunday School participant. Semaj was a senior at New Boston High School, where he was active in football, basketball, and track. Throughout the years, he has received several academic and athletic awards. He was preceded in death by his father: Darren Keith Williams; great-grandmother: Curley L. Campbell; and great-grandparents: Joe and Lillian Murphy. To cherish his memory, he leaves his mother: Tiffany Smith of New Boston, Texas; four sisters: Ashlee Brown and Alexis Brown of New Boston, Texas, AKeycia "Neci" Conkleton of Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and Jacore Ford of Dallas, Texas; three brothers: Ramal Brown of New Boston, Texas, Terron J. Ellis of Dallas, Texas, and Darren K. Williams of Hooks, Texas; his maternal grandparents: Earsie Faye Ervin of New Boston, Texas and James Ervin of Waco, Texas; his paternal grandparents: Rev. Roy and Scarlette Hooks of Ashdown, Arkansas and James L. and Rosie Williams of DeKalb, Texas; three aunts: Cristal Betts, Jamie Williams, and Glitter Williams--all of DeKalb, Texas; five uncles: James Ervin (Amanda) of Hooks, Texas, Sedrick Lamar Ervin (Summer) of Texarkana, Arkansas, Byron L. Williams (Kita) of Dallas, Texas, Kyser R. Williams of Dallas, Texas, and Darren Betts of DeKalb, Texas; his best friend: Curtis Hunter of Phoenix, Arizona; and many other aunts, uncles, relatives, and friends.
