Obituary of Pamela Sowers
Please share a memory of Pamela to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On June 14, 2014, Pamela Jo Sowers made her final journey home surrounded by her family, in Texarkana, Texas.
Pam is preceded in death by her husband Henry (Hank) Sowers.
Pam was born on September 30, 1943 in Charlotte, North Carolina to parents Josephine and Spurgeon Stacks (deceased). Pam became a resident of El Paso, Texas in 1956; she was a graduate of Irvin High School and attended Texas Western University. In 1971, she married the love of her life and became a model military spouse, supporting her soldier while raising a strong family unit—even when the family had to be apart from each other. Pam served as an office manager and accounting specialist for Western States Insurance Agency and the El Paso office and as a training specialist for Epstein Insurance Agency. Pam could often be found score keeping and cheering on her children as they participated in Bobby Sox Softball, Optimist Baseball, as well as school sports. Pam was a lifetime member of the Andress Band Boosters and celebrated over thirty years cheering on the Andress Band! After sending her final child off to college, Pam was able to return to school and graduated from El Paso Community College in 1994. Pam left her home of El Paso in 2007 and was residing in Texarkana, Texas.
She is survived by her children: Bobby Muzzy (Karen), Perky Brown (Charley), Mike Sowers (Stacey), and Denise Clevenger (Lee "Shorty" dec), as well as her grandchildren: James Sowers (Melissa), Courtnee Kendrick (Brad), Joshua Sowers (Papillion), Ryan Sowers, Brittany Sowers; and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her older brother, Arthur Stacks (Cate); brother-in-law, Dennis Sowers (Trish); and many nieces and nephews. One of Pam's greatest loves was the Andress Band and the great tradition of Andress High School, as all of her children and one of her grandchildren are Golden Eagle graduates! The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, people make contributions to the Andress Alumni Association in her name: Andress Alumni Association - 5312 Cornell - El Paso, TX 79924.
