Obituary of Benjamin Davis

Benjamin Davis, 87, of Texarkana, Arkansas, departed this life Saturday, April 11, 2015 in a local Texas nursing home. Mr. Davis was born Oct. 8, 1927, in Garland, Ark. He was employed with Missouri Pacific Railroad and North America Tank and Car Corp. and a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Davis; and one son, Benjamin W. Davis. Survivors include two sons, Benjamin C. Davis and Rodney L. Davis of Texarkana; five daughters, Linden F. Adams of Colorado Springs Colo., Wanda B. Melton of Arlington, Texas, Nikeba R. Murry of Mayflower, Ark., and LaDoris Smith and Deborah Davis Mack of Texarkana; one brother, Roger Davis of Texarkana; two sisters, Irma L. Davis of Broken Bow, Okla., and Julia Hamilton of Texarkana; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, at Lonoke Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Jordan officiating. Burial will be in East Memorial Gardens under direction of Richardson Hill Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.
