Obituary of Willard Wherry

Willard Wherry, 80, of DeKalb, Texas, passed away at his home on Saturday, September 8, 2012. Mr. Wherry was born March 3, 1932 in DeKalb, Texas. Mr. Wherry was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in DeKalb, Texas, where he was a member of the Brotherhood. He was a former employee of the Red River Army Depot. Proudly, Mr. Wherry was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Wherry; parents, Horace and Luevenia Wherry; and four siblings. He is survived by three sons, Willard (Cynthia) Wherry, III of Houston, Texas; Micheal (Yolanda) Wherry of Houston, Texas; and Eric (Donna) Wherry of Dallas, Texas; four daughters, Cynthia Ann Holt of DeKalb, Texas, Cheryl (Mark) Gazaway of Dallas, Texas, Vickie (Cornell) Goodwin of Dallas, Texas, and Erish Monique Wherry of DeKalb, Texas; two brothers, Horace (Lou Ann) Wherry of Wichita Falls, Texas and Shem P. Wherry of Wichita, Kansas; two sisters, Jewel D. Williams of Dallas, Texas and Roberta (Herman) Wherry of Wichita Falls, Texas; four sisters-in-law, Eteolia Wherry of Wichita Falls, Texas, Eva Smith of DeKalb, Texas, Genevia Cooper of DeKalb, Texas, and Minnie L. Royal of Dallas, Texas; one brother-in-law, James Day; seventeen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. The visitation will be 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., Friday, September 14, 201 at Richardson Hill Funeral Home. The funeral will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 15, 2012 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in DeKalb, Texas with Rev. Von Daniels officiating. The burial will be at Oakridge Cemetery in DeKalb, Texas under the direction of Richardson Hill Funeral Home.
